He was an All-American (NCAA D2) at the University of Findley, and National Finalist (NJCAA) wrestling at Muskegon CC.  He won a state title for West Ottawa HS in Holland, MI and amassed over 100 falls in his prep career. In other words, he's good so listen up. MWR: You just taught a clinic on Handfighting at Myrmidon Training Systems.  What can you tell us about your experience? Coach Sid Huitema: Founding Father of West Michigan Wrestling (And You’ve Never Heard of Him)

When I took over at West Ottawa a few backs, I spent the first year digging through all the old yearbooks and school newspaper (The aptly named West Ottawan) to see what past I could dig up. After 50 years, its easy to see which coaches cared about the program and which didn’t by the records they left. I stumbled upon an old article simply titled “Wrestling” from a guy named Sidney Huitema. In it, details why everyone should try wrestling (and why it isn’t for everyone). I dug a little deeper and realized he was the founder of the program at the school. I wanted to see what I could find so I pulled on the string a little more. Interview: Isaiah Thomas and the Coach T Podcast... Coaching, The Decision To Step Down, and the Pistons' Bad Boys

🖶 Print This Article Michigan Wrestling Resource recently caught up with Isaiah Thomas a former wrestler, coach, and official to discuss his new podcast, The Coach T Podcast , as well as his decision to step down from coaching, and lessons wrestling has imparted on him. Isaiah was an all-State and 2x letter winner at Muskegon Community College. He also was a Regional Coach of the Year at Bay City Western where he coached Two State Champs.
